Integration

The goal of integration is to provide immigrants with the knowledge and skills they need to function in society and the workforce. At the same time, it supports their opportunities to maintain their own language and culture.

The municipality’s integration services have been created to offer all immigrants the opportunity to participate in society. Efforts are simultaneously made to promote their wellbeing, health, education, and employment. The municipality’s integration work is carried out in collaboration with the Employment and Economic Development Office, the third sector, as well as other local and regional stakeholders.

In the Municipal Hall, there is an information desk that all residents of the municipality can visit to receive general information about the municipality and its services. The municipality’s integration and employment counsellor provides advice and guidance to immigrants living in the municipality.

The Municipal Hall also houses a Welcome Office advisory point, which offers free services to all immigrants regardless of the reason for immigration. The Welcome Office has customer reception in Malax on Mondays (every other week – even weeks) at 9.00–16.00. No appointment is needed.

For example, you can receive:

  • help in finding various language courses and education
  • tips on different leisure activities for both children and adults
  • knowledge about Finnish society
  • information about the services offered by various authorities (police, Employment and Economic Development Office, Social Insurance Institution, Digital and Population Data Services Agency, Tax Administration, Finnish Immigration Service)
  • assistance with filling out forms.
