Uno Fogde, also known as the poet Sagg-Matt, lived here his entire life from 1903 to 1960. His poems were mainly published in Vasabladet, especially during the 1930s and 1940s. Fogde’s life was overshadowed by a serious illness. Therefore, it is surprising that when his literary works were reviewed – totalling about 100 poems and some humorous pieces written in the local dialect – there was not the slightest hint of his melancholy mood or his tragic life situation. Uno Fogde was a true local. The Malax region was his home, which was evident in his writings.
