Doctor’s House

In 1928, a magnificent house was constructed for the municipal doctor of Malax, Solf, and Petalax, designed by Ivar Brännback. Municipal doctor Alf Limnell held consultations every day from 10 am to 1 pm, except on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Home visits were made when necessary, and the doctor’s working hours were around the clock. Anne-Marie Limnell, the doctor’s wife, served as the dentist. Their telephone number was Yttermalax 60, which they shared, along with the waiting room. The dentist worked on the upper floor, and the drill was powered loudly by foot. Children sat in the waiting room and told frightening stories to each other. Behind the QR code lies a true story from a visit to the dentist in the 1950s. The doctor’s practice relocated to Malax Police Station in 1964. Vasamattanin weaving mill operated in the building until 1969. From 1972 to 1976, the house was occupied by doctor Raab and his family. Presently, the house is owned by dentist Torsten von Wendt.
